RIGA FASHION WEEK took place on April 4 8, 2006 in the hotels “R?ga” and “Hotel de Rome”. RFW has already become an integral part of Riga business, cultural and social life. Perspective trends of fall/winter 2006/2007 season were defined during Riga Fashion Week. This time the pret-a-porter collections of already well-known professional Baltic designers surprised the hearts of Riga dandies and women of fashion: Natalia Jansone, Alexander Bibergal, Atis Artemjevs, Inese Lapsina, Liga Banga, Zanete Auzina, Marina Medvedeva, Natalia Tribuntsova and Kupiansky from Latvia, Aiste and jewellery designers Algina and Rolandu Zalimai and Giedrius from Lithuania, Oksana Tandit, Aldo Jarvsoo & Tanel Veenre and Sangar from Estonia. Leading designers from Russia – BIRYUKOV, Frol Romanoff, from Italy – Paolo Cristante and from France – Sakina M`sa showed their newest collections. As the honour guest French designer well-known in Paris and Tokyo Ramdane Touhami showed his menswear collection. Opening show was devoted to the Latvian designers who having united efforts created RIGA FASHION WEEK mood. This time the novelties were: presentation of a collection of bags from Una Vita (Latvia), skirts from Baiba Ripa (Latvia) and presentation of perfume of Juozas Statkevi?ius` (Lithuania). One of the RIGA FASHION WEEK achievements is new talents` development. Continuing the tradition the first stage of the “Admiralty Needle” (young designers` Contest, St.-Petersburg, Russia) took place in the shopping centre MOLS. Participants have executed sketches on the one of three set themes. Jury has defined 10 candidates students which will fight for the opportunity to go this summer to St.-Petersburg on the ending of the international competition. Baltic Fashion Federation (Riga Fashion Week organizers) will pay participation for three best students, and all trip for a first place winner.
