Austria

Modesammlung des Historischen Museums, Wien
One of the largest fashion collections in Europe. Mainly 19th and 20th century ladies’. Includes public library with fashion magazines, books from 1786 until today.

Belgium

ModeMuseum (MoMu), Antwerp
Collection of clothing, lace, embroidery, fabrics and tools for textile processing, mostly from the Southern Netherlands. The oldest collection pieces date back to the 16th century, but the emphasis is on the 19th century.

City Fashion Museum, Hasselt

The museum gives a nice overview of the evolution of fashion. Regularly thematic expositions are organized.

Musee du Costume et de la Dentelle/Lace and Costume Museum, Bruxelles
Lace from the 17th century. Collection includes some fine examples of historical Belgian lace styles from the once-renowned factories of Mechelen, Bruges and Antwerp. Also costumes and accessories from the 16th to the 19th centuries in changing displays.
