From 1983 to 1994 Jean-Paul Gaultier designed the costumes for about 18 ballet shows choreographed by Regine Chopinot. As a part of Jean-Paul Gaultiers thirty years of creation this exhibition presents the result of collaboration between couturier and choreographer, also Jean-Paul Gaultiers haute couture examples. Ballet costumes are shown for the first time.

Gianfranco Ferre, the Italian designer known as the “architect of fashion” died this weekend in San Raffaele Hospital in Milano. He was 62.

A young Italian designer is banking on Zinedine Zidane’s notorious World Cup headbutt to make his mark on the fashion world.
Alessandro Ferrari, 28, has come up with a line of T-shirts, polo-necks and fleece jerseys featuring a stylised logo of a man hitting someone with his head – much like the France legend did when he amazed the soccer world by ramming Italy defender Marco Materazzi in France World Cup Final defeat to Italy.
Ferrari has dubbed the line Xqua, pronounced Perqua, to echo the Pourquoi, pourquoi, pourquoi? (Why, why, why?) with which French public TVs shocked commentator reacted to Zizou’s act.
Ferrari obviously hopes his tops will be a success but also claims they can help spread a culture of non-violence.
�I decided to use that regrettable incident to launch a positive social message while offering a top-quality, trendy product, he said.

Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani is toasting a better future for refugees this festive season with a limited edition mug that he has created to help support the work of the UN refugee agency.
Sporting a sleek design depicting the Mandarin character for “hope,” the mug was inspired while the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador was on a trip to the Chinese metropolis of Shanghai.
It is available this month in stores around the United Kingdom and Italy as well as through online vendors, and will soon be available in the United States and Australia.
For every Armani mug sold, part of the income will go towards UNHCR’s global work to support more than 20 million refugees and other people of concern.
“UNHCR is extremely grateful that Giorgio Armani and our other steadfast Goodwill Ambassadors are keeping the needs of refugees in mind,” said Nick Van Praag, UNHCR’s director of external relations.
“UNHCR is almost entirely dependent upon voluntary contributions to provide vital support to millions of refugees under our care, so every donation – such as through the purchase of these beautiful mugs – will help refugees.”

Gabrielle Bonheur Coco Chanel was a pioneering French couturier the most important figure in the history of 20th-century fashion design. She borrowed ideas from men’s clothes and created clothes for modern women. She made fashion revolution. Nickname Coco she took after her perfomance of the song Qui qu’a vu Coco dans le Trocadero in 1905 in a small provincial town. She never married. For more than 30 years, Gabrielle Chanel made the Hôtel Ritz in Paris her home. But spent her latter years in Lausanne, Switzerland. On Chanel bags, belts and clothes often surfaces camelia – according to mythology, the simbol of radiancy and purity.

1883 (19 august) – was born in the small city of Saumur, France, although she asserted she was born in 1893, in Auvergne.
1912 – helped out by a wealthy aristocrat, Arthur Capel.
1913 – opened hat shop, money injected Arthur Capel.
1916 – introduced jersey suits.
1920s – time of the Great Depression, but Chanel opens (with the financial help of Capel) shop at 31 rue (this shop became historically famous).
The middle of 1920s – Chanel No. 5, the first designer’s brand perfume.
1923 – Chanel suit – an elegant suit comprising a knee-length skirt and trim, boxy jacket, traditionally made of woven wool with black trim and gold buttons and worn with large costume-pearl necklaces.
1931 – was hired by Samuel Goldwin for one million dollars to dress his stars, including Kathrine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Gloria Swanson.
1939 – World War 2, Paris felt. Coco Chanel had to close her boutiques.
1954 – returned to her work after 15 years which were spended living in Switzerland with Nazi officer – Chanels great love.
50s-60s – Chanel was working on some Hollywood studios wearing stars.
1971 – Coco Chanel died.
Early 80s – designer Karl Lagerfeld took over the Chanel design house. Double C logo, for the first time was seen on Chanel No. 5 perfume packaging is still exclusive and belongs to Chanel Fashion House.

1957 – started his studies in Institute of Art of Florence.
early 60’s – founded his own company.
1972 – showed his first collection.
’80s – leanest period of Cavalli career.
The mid-’90s – Cavalli came back: coats decked with crystals, animal prints and shredded leather.
1994 – presented his jeans collection in Milan.
1998 – was founded Just Cavalli line. Collection includes mens and womenswear, accessories, eyewear, watches, perfumes, underwear and beachwear.
1999 – he opened a store on New York City’s Madison Avenue, which the Sex and the City actresses proudly patronized.
2002 – out of the 750 menswear labels shown at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Cavalli was picked as the favorite. Fashion Group International named Roberto Cavalli Designer of the Year. Cavalli launched his fragrance, Roberto Cavalli Parfum. Was opened Giacosa café in Florence.

Cavalli is known for his lavish lifestyle. He owns several houses and villas, yatch and helecopter. He is married to a former Miss Universe Eva Duringer and has 3 children. Eva, with her support and assistance helped him to catapult his work onto the world stage.

Cavalli was the first designer to quickly publicly announce that he wanted Kate Moss as the face of his Spring 2006 collection very soon after her infamous drug scandal broke. Moss had already been the spokesmodel for Cavalli’s Spring 2005 campaign a year earlier.

Recently Cavalli was accused of fraud and could face up to 2 years jail time. Apparently he tried to write off millions of dollars worth of renovations to his house as business expenses.
