1957 started his studies in Institute of Art of Florence.
early 60s founded his own company.
1972 showed his first collection.

The mid-’90s Cavalli came back: coats decked with crystals, animal prints and shredded leather.
1994 presented his jeans collection in Milan.
1998 was founded Just Cavalli line. Collection includes mens and womenswear, accessories, eyewear, watches, perfumes, underwear and beachwear.
1999 – he opened a store on New York City’s Madison Avenue, which the Sex and the City actresses proudly patronized.
2002 – out of the 750 menswear labels shown at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Cavalli was picked as the favorite. Fashion Group International named Roberto Cavalli Designer of the Year. Cavalli launched his fragrance, Roberto Cavalli Parfum. Was opened Giacosa caf in Florence.

Cavalli is known for his lavish lifestyle. He owns several houses and villas, yatch and helecopter. He is married to a former Miss Universe Eva Duringer and has 3 children. Eva, with her support and assistance helped him to catapult his work onto the world stage.
Cavalli was the first designer to quickly publicly announce that he wanted Kate Moss as the face of his Spring 2006 collection very soon after her infamous drug scandal broke. Moss had already been the spokesmodel for Cavalli’s Spring 2005 campaign a year earlier.
Recently Cavalli was accused of fraud and could face up to 2 years jail time. Apparently he tried to write off millions of dollars worth of renovations to his house as business expenses.
